Derby winner for Pathfork

11th July 2020

The Sandown Stud based Irish champion Pathfork enjoyed yet more graded stakes success on Saturday when his progressive four-year-old son Marchingontogether claimed the G3 Track And Ball Derby (2400m) at Hollywoodbets Scottsville.

Marchingontogether

Bred by Jagessar Limited, the Gavin Van Zyl trained Marchingontogether made it back to back graded victories when storming home, under Warren Kennedy, to land the 2020 Track And Ball Derby by just over a length, while accounting for Equus Champion, and former Cape Derby winner, It’s My Turn.

The gelding had romped home to an impressive three and a half length win in the G3 Lonsdale Stirrup Cup at his previous start.

Now a six time winner, with earnings of R743 275, Marchingontogether is out of the Montjeu mare Souen and is thus closely inbred to Sadler’s Wells.

His G1 National Stakes winning sire Pathfork has had a fantastic season in 2019-2020, and at the time of writing, has been responsible for the earners of more than R6.1 million this season.
His flagbearers include the graded stakes winners Jet Start, Mighty High and Mr Flood, with Pathfork progeny having won such graded races as the G2 Senor Santa Stakes, G3 London News Stakes, G3 Track And Ball Derby, G3 Lebelo Sprint and G3 Tommy Hotspur Handicap this season.
