Fresh off supplying a pair of winners at the Vaal on Thursday, Avontuur Thoroughbred Farm’s inform sire Oratorio came to the fore once again on the weekend, when the son of Danehill was responsible for two more winners at Durbanville on Saturday.

The sire’s first win in South Africa on Saturday came when his three-year-old daughter Opera Swing powered home to shed her maiden by a length and a quarter, going away, over 1250m.
Bred and owned by Drakenstein Stud, Opera Swing provided trainer Brett Crawford with one of three wins on Saturday.
Oratorio’s second success at Durbanville over the weekend came when his Glen Kotzen trained son Northern Song romped home to break his maiden by nearly four lengths when victorious over1600m.
Bred by the Nutfield Stud, Northern Song, who is out of the Fort Wood mare Nordic Spring, had been runner up in each of his two previous starts.
A dual champion sire in Italy, Oratorio is currently sire of more than 100 black type horses, and his son Van Halen impressed when he won the recent G1 Mercury Sprint.
Oratorio had a tremendous season in 2019-2020 with his flagbearers headed by such graded stakes winners as Love Bomb, Mardi Gras, and Snapscan.
