Triple G1 winner and Equus Champion Elusive Fort has been in tremendous form of late, and the son of Fort Wood was again in the news on Tuesday.

His two-year-old son Red Ten made an eye catching winning debut over 1200m at the Vaal on Tuesday, while prevailing under jockey S’Manga Khumalo.

Sent off a 15-4 shot, the Drakenstein Stud bred colt dug down deep before going on to claim a neck success at the expense of fellow first-timer Copper Mountain.

Red Ten, who is trained by Ashley Fortune, is out of the Windrush mare Madame Rooney and he was an R80 000 buy from the 2019 Cape Premier Yearling Sale.

The colt is a third South African two-year-old winner for Elusive Fort this season, with the sire having also supplied G1 SA Derby winner Out Of Your League, Aquanaut Handicap heroine Chitengo, Klawervlei Farm Sale Graduate Race winner Kommetdieding, and Southeaster Sprint winner Elusive Trader in 2019-2020.
