Elusive Fort daughters catch the eye

29th Dec 2017

Klipdrif Stud’s successful sire Elusive Fort has been enjoying a good run of success of late, with his 3yo daughters in particular catching the eye.

The triple G1 winner’s daughter Elusive Heart, the only horse to defeat G1 World Sports Betting Cape Fillies Guineas winner Snowdance thus far, made it win number three, from just seven outings, when making all to win a competitive progress plate over 1400m, defeating Elusive Fort filly Freedom Charter in the process.

It was a smart effort by the Narrow Creek Stud bred Elusive Heart, who also accounted for G1 Thekwini Stakes runner up Rockin Russian and G2 Golden Slipper winner Desert Rhythm in Wednesday’s 3.25 length romp.

Three-year-old Elusive Heart, who had previously contested both the G1 WSB Cape Fillies Guineas and G2 Western Cape Fillies Championship, may contest the G3 Vasco Prix Du Cap next year.

Another 3yo daughter of Elusive Fort to catch the eye recently was the Geoff Woodruff trained Secret Potion who made it win number two from just four outings when downing the Mike de Kock trained Glamorous Life by half a length at the Vaal on Thursday.

The Dr Ian Heyns bred filly, who has won two of her last three starts, is out of the Parade Leader mare Lemon Drop Girl.

Elusive Fort is also sire of talented racemare Fort Ember, who was second in the 2017 G1 Sansui Summer Cup.

An Equus Champion son of Fort Wood (like outstanding sire Dynasty), Elusive Fort will be represented in next weekend’s G1 Cartier Farms Paddock Stakes by his top class daughter Safe Harbour (who has banked more than R2 400 000 thus far).

Elusive Fort has eight lots on January’s Cape Premier Yearling Sale.
