Klipdrif Stud’s triple G1 winning Elusive Fort enjoyed a weekend to remember, with the champion son of Fort Wood the sire of the first two home in Friday night’s G3 The Independent Football On Saturday Poinsettia Stakes at Greyville.

Elusive Fort four-year-old Freedom Charter accounted for another 4yo by the former Equus Champion in the form of former G3 Prix du Cap winner Elusive Heart when scoring a 1.1 length win in Friday evening’s 1200m feature.
Bred by part-owner Peter de Beyer, Freedom Charter has now won or placed in 12 of her 20 outings, with Friday’s G3 success pushing the Candice Bass-Robinson trained filly’s earnings to R577 225.

Also victorious in the 2018 G3 Champagne Stakes, Freedom Charter has now won or placed in six feature races.

Her sire Elusive Fort went close to enjoying a feature race double over the weekend, when his G2 SA Oaks winning daughter Secret Potion ran third, behind Equus Champion Return Flight, in Saturday’s G2 Gerald Rosenberg Stakes.

Freedom Charter’s own brother Ernie also enjoyed success this weekend, when he scored in Mauritius on Saturday.

Elusive Fort also has some very smart 3yos this season, headed by millionaire Elusive Trader.
