Klawervlei Stud’s exciting new stallion Royal Mo has made the perfect start to his new career at stud.
The only son of US sire sensation Uncle Mo at stud in South Africa, Royal Mo has had three of his first four mares covered tested in foal –a fantastic start for this well performed young stallion.
One of the best horses of his generation as a 3yo in North America, Royal Mo scored the signature win of his career when victorious in the 2017 G3 Robert B.Lewis Stakes over such graded stakes winners as Irap and Term Of Art.
He went on to finish third to G1 winners Gormeley and Battle Of Midway in the G1 Santa Anita Derby but sadly his promising career was cut short by injury.
Royal Mo, whose Mr Prospector free pedigree offers a host of mating possibilities for numerous mares, is a son of the Ashford Stud based champion Uncle Mo.
The latter, an unbeaten champion at two when his three wins included a devastating four and a quarter length romp in the G1 Grey Goose Breeders’ Cup Juvenile , made a remarkable start to his stud career when his first crop yielded 25 stakes winners headed by Kentucky Derby winner and champion Nyquist. This year alone, Uncle Mo has responsible for seven graded stakes winners notably G1 Apple Blossom Handicap winner Unbridled Mo, the unbeaten filly Dream Tree and promising 2yo Forty Under.
A half-brother to stakes winning racemare Tara From The Cape, Royal Mo is out of the Saint Ballado mare Royal Irish Lass. The latter also had a Malibu Moon colt make $650 000 at the 2017 Fasig Tipton Saratoga Sale.
Royal Mo’s second dam is remarkable racemare Irish Linnet, a 19 time winner, whose victories included the G2 New York Handicap and five consecutive wins in the Yaddo Handicap/Stakes.
