Avontuur Thoroughbred Farm’s triple G1 winning sire Oratorio enjoyed a graded race double over the weekend, with his son Capoeira landing Saturday’s G3 World Sports Betting Cup Trial and another son, Divine Odyssey, lifting Sunday’s G3 Jubilee Handicap at Turffontein racecourse.

Capoeira and Divine Odyssey are bred on similar lines, with the former out of a mare by Fort Wood and Divine Odyssey out of mare sired by Fort Wood’s son Dynasty.
Trained by Johan Janse Van Vuuren, five-year-old Divine Odyssey stamped his Vodacom Durban July claims with an authorative win in the Jubilee Handicap (1800m).
The Oratorio gelding, who was ridden by Raymond Danielson, made it win number six with a one length score over tote favourite Marshall Foch.
Now a dual graded stakes winner (he was also victorious in last year’s G2 Colorado King Stakes), the Wernars bred and owned Divine Odyssey took his earnings to R1 183 825 with his win on Sunday.
His sire Oratorio, sire of 57 stakes winners in total, has three lots on offer at the upcoming National Sale.
