Ridgemont’s exciting young stallion Malmoos came up with a fifth first-crop winner on Monday.
His two-year-old son Trojan Horse got off the mark at just the second time of asking when he won the second race at Turffontein on Monday.
Trained by Mike and Mathew De Kock, Trojan Horse had finished third on his only start prior to Monday’s Racing240 Juvenile Plate (1600m).
Under Gavin Lerena, the son of Malmoos ran on steadily down the inside of the track to get up and win by nearly a length and three quarters.

Bred by Ridgemont Highlands, Trojan Horse races for Hollywood Racing.

Monday’s winner is out of the So You Think mare Maningi Indaba.

Trojan Horse joins unbeaten filly Marchland, as well as the likes of Life In Colour, Within Reach and Malibu Ice as first crop winners for Malmoos.

Winner of South Africa’s Triple Crown in 2021, Malmoos shares his champion sire Captain Al with such high-class stallions as Erik The Red (a three-parts brother to Malmoos) and One World.
