The European champion and four time G1 winner joins the like of legendary stallion Jet Master to have thrown a July winner in his very first crop.
In landing the R4.25 million Vodacom Durban July, the G2 Daisy Guineas winning Do It Again took his earnings to R3 307 500 and confirmed himself as the outstanding member of his generation.
The Northfields Stud bred three-year-old, who races for Bernard Kantor, Nic Jonsson and Jack Mitchell, also made the July a memorable for South African Champion Trainer elect Justin Snaith, with the latter saddling the first three past the post in the 2018 Vodacom Durban July.
While Do It Again’s trainer was winning South Africa’s most famous horse race for a third time, it was a remarkable fifth July victory for jockey Anton Marcus. The latter is now the leading jockey in July history.
Do It Again, a winner of his first two races, has now won or placed in seven of his eighth races, with Saturday’s G1 victory stamping him a potential contender for both Horse Of The Year and Equus Champion 3YO Colt/Gelding.
Do It Again is one of two G1 winners to have emerged from Twice Over’s first crop thus far, with the other being impressive G1 Tsogo Sun Gold Medallion winner Sand And Sea.
With his first crop also unleashing Winter Derby hopefuls Rock My Soul and Doublemint, as well as the very smart filly Twice As Smart, Twice Over has well and truly entrenched himself as one of South Africa’s brightest stars in the stallion band!
The European champion will stand for a fee of R50 000 this season.
