First G1 winner for Master Of My Fate

4th July 2020

Varsfontein Stud’s red-hot resident stallion Master Of My Fate supplied a second feature race winner in two days when his unbeaten son Tempting Fate won the G1 Golden Horse Medallion (1200m) at Hollywoodbets Scottsville on Saturday winner afternoon.

Tempting Fate, a first G1 winner for his prolific young sire, followed Friday’s World Sports Betting East Cape Derby heroine American Princess as Master Of My Fate’s second feature race winner in as many days.

Under jockey Sean Veale, the Avontuur Thoroughbred Farm bred colt ran on strongly to nab his front running stable mate Pray For Rain before going on to record a one and a half length win.

Tote favourite Erik The Red, a close relative of Master Of My Fate, finished fourth in the Gold Medallion with that colt having previously won four of his five starts including the G3 KEPU Cape Of Good Hope Nursery, Listed Cape Town And Western Cape Marketed By Wesgro Summer Juvenile Stakes and Listed Kuda Somerset 1200.

Now unbeaten in three starts, Tempting Fate was making it back to back graded wins with the Master Of My Fate colt having won the G3 Godolphin Barb Stakes at his penultimate start.

A leading contender for the title of Equus Champion 2YO Colt for 2019-2020, Tempting Fate is one of nine two-year-old winners for Master Of My Fate this season thus far, with the latter also responsible for impressive debut winner Fast Love and Friday’s Dahlia Plate runner up Tarantino.

Sire of at least one graded stakes winners in each of his three crops of racing age, Master Of My Fate has 19 lots on the upcoming Emperors Palace National Yearling Sale.
