Maine Chance Farms’ exciting young stallion, and former Equus Champion, Vercingetorix has made a tremendous start to his stud career and the bay son of Silvano enjoyed another memorable few days last week.

Vercingetorix’s first crop sons Viking Moon and Hooves Of Troy gave their multiple G1 winning sire a memorable 1-2 finish when fighting out the finish to the Listed East Cape Nursery at Fairview on Friday.

Now unbeaten in three starts, the Birch Bros Viking Moon downed his paternal half-brother Hooves Of Troy to land the Listed feature by half a length.
Ridden to victory by Greg Cheyne, and trained by Alan Greeff, Viking Moon is one of seven first crop winners to have represented Vercingetorix thus far.
An unbeaten G1 winner in South Africa, Vercingetorix is currently the country’s Leading First Crop Sire by individual winners.

A G1 winner in both South Africa and Dubai, Vercingetorix also did well at last week’s Emperors Palace National Yearling Sale.
Vercingetorix, whose sire was responsible for the record breaking R9 000 000 buy, had yearlings make up to R1 000 000, and the emerging sire star had ten lots gross R3.05 million on the first session of the National Sale.
