Varsfontein Stud’s well performed young stallion Master Of My Fate was represented by his first winner when his son Twist Of Fate made a winning debut on the first day of the 2018 L’Ormarins Queen’s Plate festival on Friday. The son of Jet Master has made a bright start at stud, with three of his first four runners either winning or finishing in the money.

Bred by the Favour Stud, and trained by Joey Ramsden, Twist Of Fate showed good pace before quickening up nicely and staying on to break his maiden over 1000m by one and a half lengths, over well bred first-timer Cash Call.
It was another 4.75 lengths back to third place finisher Rivonia Boulevard.
In his wake, came two-year-olds by the likes of Snitzel, Var, What A Winter and Gimmethegreenlight.
Twist Of Fate was produced by the Counter Action mare Crescent Lily, whose wins included the Listed Breeders Guineas.
The colt holds an entry in the Listed Summer Juvenile Stakes on Sun Met day.
His sire Master Of My Fate was the top colt sold from the 2011 National Yearling Sale, where he fetched R3 000 000.
The strapping bay won six of just eight outings, including both the G2 Premier Trophy and G2 Peninsula Handicap, with Master Of My Fate winning from 1200-1800 metres.
He is a son of seven times champion sire and Horse Of The Year Jet Master, also sire of champions Pocket Power, Yorker, J J The Jet Plane and In The Fast Lane.

Master Of My Fate is one of two stakes winners produced by former Equus Champion Promisefrommyheart, whose daughter Justthewayyouare (Listed Spook Express Handicap) is dam of multiple G3 winner Captain Splendid –a runner in Saturday’s G3 Heineken Chairman’s Cup.
Promisefrommheart is also second dam of the brilliant, unbeaten filly Hashtagyolo, winner of the recent G3 Flamboyant Stakes.
This is also the family of champion Kings Gambit and Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf winner Pluck. The latter’s G3 winning half-sister Three Hearts recently fetched $650 000 when sold at the 2017 Keeneland November Breeding Stock Sale.
Master Of My Fate has two well bred yearlings on sale at the 2018 Cape Premier Yearling Sale- a half brother to 9 winners headed by G1 Gold Cup winner Ancestral Fore (Lot 10), and a half-brother to seven winners including exported G1 Mercury Sprint winner August Rush (Lot 211).
