The Cheveley Stud bred and based champion Legislate enjoyed a good pay-day at Hollywoodbets Greyville on Sunday.
Legislate’s talented daughter Zimbaba, her sire’s only runner on the card, provided Sean Tarry and Gavin Lerena with a second feature race win on Sunday when she stormed home to an impressive win in the G3 Flamboyant Stakes at Greyville.

Dropped out, in an attempt to overcome a poor draw, Zimbaba flashed up late, under a well timed ride from Lerena, to win by nearly a length.

Bred and owned by Drakenstein Stud, four-year-old Zimbaba had caught the eye when finishing third in the G3 World Sports Betting Magnolia Handicap last time out.

Zimbaba, who is out of the Pivotal mare Pin Turn, has now won three of 12 starts, with her previous wins including the Listed Swallow Stakes earlier this year.

She is one of four stakes winners to have emerged from the first crop of Legislate -South Africa’s Horse Of The Year in 2013-2014.

Legislate’s first crop also includes G3 WSB Legal Eagle Stakes winner Hoedspruit (winner of this season’s Listed Nelson Mandela Bay Racing Algoa Cup) and Veronica Mars. The latter caught the eye when finishing a close up third in the recent G3 Victress Stakes.
