Four in a row for Duke Of Marmalade filly

16th Feb 2021

Fresh off supplying Saturday’s G3 Wilgerbosdrift Tommy Hotspur Handicap winner True To Life, Drakenstein Stud’s resident Danehill sire Duke Of Marmalade came up with two more winners at Fairview on Monday afternoon.

Duke Of Marmalade’s Monday double was headed by a fine performance by his four-year-old daughter Blue Duchess. The latter made it four wins in a row when scoring a narrow win over 1200m on Monday.
Trained by Gavin Smith, the Drakenstein Stud bred and owned Blue Duchess stayed on gamely, under Marco Van Rensburg, to score by a head.

Now a five time winner, from just ten starts, Blue Duchess is yet to taste defeat on the Fairview polytrack surface.

Duke Of Marmalade also enjoyed success on Monday when his son Full Score fought back gamely to break his maiden by a neck while scoring over 1600m.
The Ridgemont bred and owned three-year-old is trained by Alan Greeff, with Full Score booted home to victory by Greg Cheyne.

A Cartier Champion, and five time G1 winner, Duke Of Marmalade has seven lots on offer at the Cape Yearling Sale, and a further five yearlings on offer at the Cape Premier Yearling Sale.
