Varsfontein Stud’s ever-reliable Master Of My Fate was the toast of Fairview racecourse on Friday when the son of Jet Master supplied three winners on the eight-race card.
His first success came when his three-year-old daughter Sun Spectacular claimed the third race, the 4Racing.TV Open Maiden (1600m), on the card.
One of three winners on the card for Richard Fourie, the Kelly Mitchley-trained filly justified tote favouritism when scoring by a length and a quarter, with another Master Of My Fate daughter, Run For Me, running third.
Bred by Wilgerbosdrift & Mauritzfontein, Sun Spectacular was making her first start in the Eastern Cape on Friday.
The filly is out of the Dawn Approach mare Sun Up.
Master Of My Fate struck again in the very next race where his son Joe Harman won the www.soccer6.co.za Maiden Plate (2400m).
Under Kobeli Lihaba, the Gavin Smith-trained gelding got off the mark with a one and a half length win.
Bred by Varsfontein Stud, Joe Harman is out of the Hussonet mare Alice Springs.
Master Of My Fate made it a hatrick of wins when his daughter Medlers Tart won the fifth race, the Play Soccer 6,10 and 13 Pinnacle Stakes (2700m), at Fairview.
Trained by Sharon Kotzen, the four-year-old made it win number four when running out an emphatic, two and a half length winner of Friday’s race.
Medlers Tart was given a fine front running by Louis Mxothwa, which allowed the filly to stay on and score convincingly.
Bred by Varsfontein Stud, Medlers Tart’s previous wins included a score in the 2023 Walmer Handicap.
The filly is out of the Trippi mare Taffety Tart.
The sire of 22 stakes winners, headed by G1 winners Sentbydesting, Zarina and champion Tempting Fate, Master Of My Fate has an excellent draft on offer at the National Yearling Sale.
