Futura colt tops Ready To Run

4th Nov 2019

Castle On The Hill, a colt from the first crop of Horse Of The Year Futura, proved the star attraction at Sunday’s Emperors Palace Ready To Run Sale.
Consigned by Ndoro Stud, Castle On The Hill (Lot 91) was knocked down to EIBloodstock for R1 300 000 to top Sunday’s auction.

Futura’s outstanding sire Dynasty also proved popular at Sunday’s sale, with the former Horse Of The Year responsible for both the second top lot Steeplechase (Lot 55), and third top lot Mach Four (Lot 55) respectively.
Consigned by Far End Farm (Agent), Steeplechase was knocked down to Dynasty’s trainer Dean Kannemeyer for R600 000, while the Hemel ‘N Aarde Stud consigned Mach Four went to the bid of Nick Jonsson at R550 000.

Between them, Futura and Dynasty dominated the sires’ list at Sunday’s sale, with Futura’s three lots to sell fetching R1.61 million, and Dynasty’s trio to sell making R1.475 million.

It is not the first time that Futura has made a splash with a member of his first crop at a sale this year –the Drakenstein Stud based sire had a colt sell for R1 200 000 at January’s Cape Premier Yearling Sale.

South Africa’s Horse Of The Year, Champion Older Male, and Middle Distance Horse of 2014-2015, Futura was an exceptional racehorse whose nine wins, from 18 outings, included triumphs in both the G1 L’Ormarins Queen’s Plate and G1 J&B Met, as well as back to back scores in the G1 Champions Cup.

The bay has a single lot on offer at the upcoming CTS Ready To Run Sale later this month.
