Days after his son Note To Self won the G1 Hollywoodbets Durban July, Drakenstein Stud’s inform stallion Futura was back in the headlines.
Futura’s four-year-old daughter Spoil Yourself enjoyed a memorable day out on Friday when she won the Port Elizabeth Gold Cup (3150m) at Fairview.
Making a mockery of her 66-1 starting price, the Jacques Strydom trained filly put up a bold effort in Friday’s race which took place on polytrack.
Under Yuzae Ramzan, Spoil Yourself raced well off the pace early on. When Ramzan asked the question, the Futura filly stormed home down the outside of the track, and she got up close home to land the Port Elizabeth Gold Cup of 2026 by a length and a half.
Friday’s win pushed Spoil Yourself’s winning tally to four from 26 starts.
Bred by Hemel ‘N Aarde Stud, Friday’s winner is owned by Messrs R J Munien, C C M Do Carmo,J V A Strydom, Mesdames Cecilia Trickett, M O Strydom & Money Talks Syndicate.|
Spoil Yourself, closely inbred to Western Winter, is out of the What A Winter mare Winter Retreat.
The daughter of Futura was a R300 000 buy from the 2023 National Yearling Sale.
