Varsfontein Stud’s multiple champion sire Gimmethegreenlight came up with an eye catching first-timer on Thursday.
His three-year-old daughter Madison County made a perfect start to her career when she made a winning debut at the Vaal on Thursday.

Under Gavin Lerena, the Lucky Houdalakis trained filly came from last  to first to win the 4Racing Welcomes You Maiden Plate (F and M) (1200m) by more than two and three quarter lengths.

Bred by Wilgerbosdrift & Mauritzfontein (the filly races for Wilgerbosdrift ), Madison County is out of the Tiger Ridge mare Meryl.

Thursday’s winner is thus bred on the same cross as Equus Champion Gimme A Nother -a leading contender for Saturday’s G1 E. P. Taylor Stakes.

Gimmethegreenlight had also enjoyed success at Fairview one day earlier, when his son Honorine’s Gimmie won the seventh race at Fairview.

The champion has two lots on offer at the October Two Year Old Sale -a half-sister (Lot 42) to G3 Prix Penelope runner up Hug and a Kiss, and a colt (Lot81) out of a dual G3 winning daughter of Captain Al.
