Three-year-old gelding Tsar Bomba outclassed his rivals when romping home to a brilliant win in Thursday’s 4Racing.TV Maiden Plate (3-year-olds) over 1200 metres.

Under S’Manga Khumalo, the Johan Janse Van Vuuren trained Tsar Bomba turned the sprint into a one horse race, as he pulled well clear to score on debut by five and a quarter lengths.

Bred by part-owner Laurence Wernars, Tsar Bomba is out of the Ideal World mare Work Ethic.

His G1 L’Ormarins Queen’s Plate winning sire Gimmethegreenlight has made a flying start to the 2022-2023 South African racing season.
At the time of writing, Gimmethegreenlight was runner up on the General Sires List for the current season.
South Africa’s Champion Sire of 2020-2021, Gimmethegreenlight is currently responsible for 44 stakes winners including the G1 winners Got The Greenlight, Yulong Prince, Gunner and She’s A Keeper.
