South Africa’s reigning champion sire Gimmethegreenlight looks to have come up with another well above average sort in the form of Outofthedarkness.

The latter made a big impression when making it two wins from two starts with a fluent display at Turffontein on Saturday.
A fluent winner over 1000m on his only previous start, the Wernars family bred and owned Outofthedarkness maintained his unbeaten record with a clear-cut win in Saturday’s Next Turffontein Racemeeting Saturday 30 October MR 76 Handicap (1200m).
Under Raymond Danielson, the three-year-old gelded son of Gimmethegreenlight powered home to register a decisive win, scoring by just over a length and a quarter.
Outofthedarkness, who is trained by Johan Janse Van Vuuren, is out of the Fort Wood mare Negroamaro and is bred on the same Gimmethegreenlight/Fort Wood cross as the graded stakes winners Gee For Go, Green Pepper, Hack Green and Second Base.
His champion sire is also the sire of talented filly Mercury Rising, who caught the eye when finishing third in Saturday’s G2 Western Cape Fillies Championship.
Gimmethegreenlight has six lots on the upcoming CTS Ready To Run Sale, and two lots on the November Two Year Old Sale.
