Global View son lands Champion Juvenile Cup

31st July 2020

Ascot Stud’s exciting young stallion Global View, South Africa’s Leading First Season Sire of 2019-2020, made more headlines on Friday afternoon when his son Global Drummer made all to land the Listed Champion Juvenile Cup (1400m) at Fairview.

In landing the final feature race of the current South African racing season, Global Drummer made it a hatrick of feature race wins, with the Ascot Stud bred gelding having captured the Listed East Cape Nursery and Listed Dahlia Plate at his two previous starts.

Under jockey Stallone Naidoo, the Gavin Smith trained Global Drummer showed his class with an authorative, three and three quarter length victory to stamp himself the best two-year-old in the Eastern Cape.

Out of the Kilconnel mare Royal Drummer, Global Drummer made it win number four from just five starts.

The once beaten gelding was a R250 000 purchase from the 2019 National Sale.

Global Drummer is one of eight first crop winners for Global View thus far, with others including East Cape Fillies Nursery/Lady’s Slipper Stakes runner up Storyland, Klawervlei Farm Sale Graduate Race second Tanzanite Queen and East Cape Nursery second Fireview.
