Ascot Stud’s hugely promising Galileo horse Global View supplied his first stakes winner when his first-crop son Global Drummer won the Listed East Cape Nursery (1200m) at Fairview on Friday.

In landing the spoils in the delayed (due to COVID19 lockdown) East Cape Nursery, the gelded Global Drummer accounted for another son of Global View in Fireview, with the latter taking second place.

Trained by Gavin Smith, the Ascot Stud bred Global Drummer made it win number two from just three starts when romping home to a clear-cut two and a quarter length win over paternal half-brother Fireview.

A smart winner on debut, Global Drummer was a R250 000 buy from the 2019 Emperors Palace National Yearling Sale.

Global Drummer is one of four first-crop winners for Global View thus far. The latter has had a fine week thus far, with Global View sire of five recent runners to finish  in the money, and his promising two-year-old daughter Tazanite Queen finishing second, over 1000m, at Kenilworth on debut.

His multiple graded stakes winning sire Global View, South Africa’s Leading First Crop Sire by both stakes and individual winners, is the first of the first crop stallions this season to supply a stakes winner.

Global View, a graded stakes winning son of the world’s premier sire Galileo, has an outstanding draft of 22 yearlings on offer at the 2020 Emperors Palace National Yearling Sale.
