Ascot Stud’s dual graded stakes winning Galileo horse Global View was the toast of Fairview racecourse on Friday, when his star son Global Drummer won the Listed East Cape Sprint Cup (1200m) in fine style.
Trained by Gavin Smith, the four-year-old powered home, under the recently returned JP Van Der Merwe, to score by a length and a half.
A winner of his last four starts, Global Drummer has now won 15 of just 19 starts, with Friday’s Listed win the gelding’s sixth black type win.
The East Cape champion, who was bred by Ascot Stud, was a R250 000 buy from the 2019 National Yearling Sale.
Global Drummer, one of three stakes winners for Kilconnel daughter Royal Drummer, has a Heavenly Blue half-brother on offer at the upcoming National Yearling Sale.
His sire Global View, South Africa’s Leading First Season Sire of 2019-2020, has 15 lots on offer at the 2022 National Sale, including a filly (Lot 65) from the immediate family of Global View’s legendary broodmare sire Storm Cat, and a half-brother (Lot 290) to Champion Juvenile Cup victor Foreign Source.
