Lammerskraal Stud’s successful stallion Go Deputy may not have the biggest number of runners around but the G1 winning son of outstanding sire Deputy Minister seldom fails to come up with at least one stakes winner- each and every season.

The former millionaire was at it again on Turffontein on Saturday when his talented four-year-old daughter Insignis claimed the 2019 Listed Jacaranda Handicap for trainer Geoff Woodruff and owner-breeders Lammerskraal Stud.

A full-sister to Settlers Trophy winner Arezzo, the well bred Insignis stormed home from off the pace to win Saturday’s feature by 1.9 lengths over G3 Flamboyant Stakes winner Camphoratus (with recent G3 Acacia Handicap winner High Seas Beauty only fourth) –giving her trainer and jockey Marco Van Rensburg a quick feature race double in the process.

Out of the Western Winter mare Alula (who has a Duke Of Marnalade colt on offer at this year’s National Sale), the consistent Insignis has won four of her 12 outings (she has only been unplaced twice) and has earned over R450 000 in prize money.

Her G1 Sword Dancer Invitational winning sire Go Deputy has just 12 4yo runners to his name, but they include seven winners, and four stakes horses –including G2 SA Oaks runner up Flichity By Farr, the stakes winning fillies Widow’s Lamp and Insignis, and the very useful Full Mast.

Go Deputy, whose previous top performers include Triple Crown winner Abashiri and exported Gold Bracelet winner Flying Ice, has a single lot on offer at the 2019 National Sale –a half-sister (Lot 456) to the very smart, stakes placed Kazaar, who is from the same female line as Go Deputy himself!
