Promising 2yo Sanskrift, a half-sister to Hemel ‘N Aarde Stud’s well bred young stallion Horizon, stamped herself as a filly with a bright future when she got off the mark at Durbanville on Saturday.

One of two juvenile winners on the day for Duke Of Marmalade, the Maine Chance Farms bred filly powered home under jockey Keagan De Melo to score a one and a quarter length win over 1250m, with Sanskrift having finished a close up, and unlucky, second on her only previous outing.
Sanskrift is a full-sister to high class filly Santa Clara, with the latter (who holds an entry in the G2 KRA Fillies Guineas) having finished runner up in the G3 Umzimkhulu Stakes earlier in the month.
The well-bred Sanskrift, who is a runner in the upcoming Listed Perfect Promise Sprint, was an R800 000 purchase from the 2018 Emperors Palace National Yearling Sale.
The promising 2yo is a half-sister to stakes winners Solapur and the very classy Horizon, while Sanskrift’s dam, Shina, is a full-sister to triple G1 winner and multiple champion sire Silvano.
A son of four times Equus Outstanding Stallion Dynasty, former record priced yearling Horizon (the best bred son of his outstanding sire at stud) earned nearly R600 000 on the track with his wins including a facile victory in the G3 BMW Politician Stakes of 2017.
The bay stands his first season at stud this year.
