Set to be crowned South Africa’s Leading Sire of 2YOs for 2021-2022, Maine Chance Farms’ Oasis Dream horse Querari came up with another good looking two-year-old winner, when his son I Am Giant made a winning debut at the Vaal on Tuesday afternoon.
Under Kabelo Matsunyane, the Crawford trained I Am Giant stamped himself a horse to follow when he ran out a facile three length winner of the www.tabracing.com Maiden Juvenile Plate (1200m) on Tuesday.
The Querari colt stretched well clear in the closing stages to win as he liked, while becoming Querari’s 23rd two-year-old winner of the season.
Bred by Mr Dickerson, I Am Giant is out of the Var mare Vars Honour.
The colt was a R350 000 buy from the 2021 August Two Year Old Sale.
Querari has had a wonderful season with his juveniles this season, with his notable two-year-olds in 2021-2022 including graded stakes winners Galla Vanting and Prophet and Listed Ruffian Stakes winner River Queraress.
His sire Oasis Dream also supplied an impressive two-year-old winner on Tuesday, with Oasis Dream colt Marbaan capturing the G2 Japan Racing Association Vintage Stakes at Goodwood. Himself a G1 winner at two, Oasis Dream is no stranger to high-class two-year-olds and has also been responsible for such G1 winning juveniles as Arcano, Charming Thought, Naaqoos, Power, Pretty Pollyanna and champion Native Trail.
South Africa’s Leading Sire of 2YOs in 2018-2019, Querari has 12 lots on offer at the upcoming August Two Year Old Sale.
