Impressive debut winner for Vercingetorix

4th November 2020

Maine Chance Farms’ Jebel Hatta winning stallion Vercingetorix has a very exciting crop of three-year-olds this season, and the son of Silvano came up with another smart looking sophomore when his son Bereave made a winning debut at Kenilworth on Tuesday.

Bred and owned by the Collins Stud Farm, the gelded Bereave ran on strongly, under inform jockey Craig Zackey to get up close home and win by a neck over 1200m.

Trained by Adam Marcus, Bereave is out of the Cataloochee mare Jeanre.

His sire Vercingetorix, South Africa’s Leading Sire of 3YOs and Leading Second Season Sire of 2019-2020, has an excellent crop of 3yos this season, with his notable sophomores including G1 Allan Robertson Championship/G3 Strelitzia Stakes heroine Vernichey, G3 Cape Classic first and third finishers Seeking The Stars and Rascallion, and G3 Palacebet.co.za Live Games Graham Beck Stakes runner up Forever Mine.

South Africa’s Champion 3YO Colt of 2012-2013, Vercingetorix has 11 lots on the upcoming Emperors Palace National 2YO Sale, and a further nine lots on the CTS Ready To Run, Unbroken 2 Year Old & Mixed Sale.
