The Alchemy’s blue blooded young sire Where’s That Tiger, whose first South African crop are two-year-olds ae two-year-olds this season, made the perfect start to his local stud career on Saturday.
Temp The Tiger, one of the first runners from Where’s That Tiger’s first SA crop, made an eye catching winning debut when downing some well bred two-year-olds over 1000 metres at Kenilworth.
The flashy grey colt, trained by Joey Ramsden, was always going well and sped clear in the final stages to post a half length win first time out for breeders Schalk and Claire Le Roux.
Temp The Tiger was a R60 000 buy from the 2017 March Yearling Sale.
His sire Where’s That Tiger was a smart racehorse who was second in both the UAE 2000 Guineas and Al Bastikiya in a brief racing career.
He is a son of champion sire Storm Cat (whose numerous top class sire sons include Giant’s Causeway, Stormy Atlantic, Tale Of The Cat, Forest Wildcat, and Hennessy) and is bred on the same Storm Cat/Mr Prospector cross as successful sires Storm Boot and Tale Of The Cat.
Where’s That Tiger’s dam Blissful is a full-sister to Kentucky Derby winner Fusiachi Pegasus, the sire of more than 70 stakes winners, including G1 winning sires Bandini, Champ Pegasus, Roman Ruler and Haradasun. Fusaichi Pegasus is also sire of South African Broodmare Of The Year Our Table Mountain.
This is also the family of top class sire Icecapade.
From just a handful of South African runners conceived while standing in Australia, Where’s That Tiger’s runners include high class stakes winners Tiger’s Touch, Tiger Quest and Supertube, as well Samurai Blade, third in both the G1 SA Classic and G1 SA Derby.
