Jackson relative tops Keeneland sale

13th January 2021

A mare from the same female line as Ridgemont Highlands’ triple G1 winning sire Jackson proved the star attraction on the second day of Keeneland’s January Horses Of All Ages Sale.

Danceforthecause (Hip 587), who like Jackson traces back to the wonderful broodmare No Class, was knocked down for $925 000 to Alex Solis, who purchased the Giant’s Causeway daughter on behalf of Gainesway Stud.

“I thought she was a really beautiful mare,” said bloodstock agent Alex Solis. “She has great balance and obviously she’s been a great producer already. I think this is the best Sam-Son family there is and with Dance Smartly as the second dam and Smart Strike is right there on the page. I thought she was a very exciting prospect.

Offered in foal to Twirling Candy, the bay is a daughter of Dancethruthestorm and a full sister to stakes winner Grand Style.

The unraced Danceforthecause, whose fourth dam is No Class, is already dam of a pair of graded stakes winners in the form of Say The Word (G1 Northern Dancer Turf Stakes) and Rideforthecause (G2 Canadian Stakes).

Her G1 Investec Cape Derby winning relative Jackson is currently responsible for the likes of dual G3 winner Pretty Young Thing as well as as Baby Shooz, Count Jack, Eva Eileen, Flame Tree, and Pure State.
