The blue blooded mare Statute, a full-sister to the Cheveley Stud based champion Legislate, picked up the biggest win of her career when she landed the Listed Jockey Club Stakes at Fairview on Friday.

Third in the Listed East Cape Paddock Stakes on her previous start, the Michael Roberts trained mare powered home, under Shadlee Fortune, to land Friday’s 2000m by a length and a quarter.
Bred, like her illustrious full-brother, by the Cheveley Stud, Statute has now won four races and she will be an attractive stud prospect when she retires to the paddocks.
A R700 000 buy from the 2016 National Yearling Sale, Statute, the 72nd stakes winner for Ridgemont Highlands’ late sire Dynasty, is one of five winners produced by the four time winning Restructure mare Champers.
The latter, who is from the same family as champion Gabor and the exciting Dynasty sired 3yo Lion’s Head, is best known as the dam of Horse Of The Year, and four time G1 winner Legislate.
The latter, who set a course record over 1600m at Kenilworth, made a promising start with his first 2yos last season including the stakes placed Veronica Mars and eye catching winners Speed Machine and Toto.
Legislate has two sons due to run in the upcoming Listed Sophomore Sprint -Speed Machine and Hoedspruit.
