Brilliant filly Alpha Centauri was honoured with a Cartier Award as Champion 3YO Filly for 2018, at Tuesday night’s Cartier Awards ceremony.
Trained by Jessica Harrington, the 3yo daughter of Mastercraftsman won four of her six outings this year, with Alpha Centauri’s victories including wins in the G1 Tattersalls Irish 1000 Guineas, G1 Coronation Stakes, G1 Tattersalls Falmouth Stakes and the G1 Prix du Haras de Fresnay-le-Buffard Jacques le Marois.

In total, the now retired Alpha Centauri won six of ten outings and earned £1 254 827 in stakes.
She is out of the unraced Rahy mare Alpha Lupi , herself a daughter of Judpot’s dual French classic winning half-sister East Of The Moon.
Remarkably, between them, Alpha Centauri, East Of The Moon and the latter’s dam Miesque won the G1 Prix Jacques le Marois four times!
Judpot, whose Varsfontein Stud bred son Horseplay romped home by nearly four lengths at the Vaal on Tuesday, has a total of 20 stakes horses to his credit, notably graded winners Along Came Polly, Coral Fever, Forest Indigo, Juxtapose, Deputy Jud, Colour Of Courage, Double Whammy, Final Judgement, Polyphonic and Sniper Shot.
The son of A P Indy has two lots on offer at the 2018 CTS Ready To Run Sale –a filly whose winning dam is a half-sister to G2 Sceptre Stakes winner Joshlin, and a colt whose third dam won the SA Fillies Guineas.
