Legislate relative off the mark!

5th April 2019

The Cheveley Stud bred and based champion Legislate is from a very successful female line, and this family received yet another boost when the well bred 2yo Putontheredlight shed his maiden at the Vaal on Thursday.
A colt by Pomodoro, the Sean Tarry trained Putontheredlight caught the eye when staying on smartly to win (at just the second time of asking) when accounting for the Australian bred hot favourite Jash (whose sire I Am Invincible is one of the best stallions in the Southern Hemisphere) over 1200 metres.

Putontheredlight

Putontheredlight, a R300 000 buy from the 2018 Cape Premier Yearling Sale, is a half-brother to 4 winners, notably Swallow Stakes winner Sting Operation, and his dam is G1 Thekwini Stakes winner Roxanne.

The latter’s third dam Classic Art is also third dam of the record breaking, four time G1 winning Horse Of The Year Legislate, whose first yearlings sell this year.

Legislate, who earned over R5.7 million and picked up four Equus Awards during his record breaking career, is one of the very best sons of the late, four times Equus Outstanding Stallion Dynasty around.

The handsome bay, whose full-brother sells as Lot 54 at this year’s National Sale, made a pleasing start with his first yearlings –with Legislate responsible for the top priced colt sold at the 2019 Cape Yearling Sale.

The Cheveley based champion has five yearlings on offer at the 2019 Emperors Palace National Yearling Sale.
