Longsword relatives popular at Premier Sale

24th January 2019

Klawervlei Stud’s popular young stallion William Longsword is from a family which proved very popular at the recent Cape Premier Yearling Sale.
A full-sister to the G1 Grand Parade Cape Guineas winner topped the one day sale, with the Klawervlei Stud consigned filly (Lot 129) being knocked down to Anthony Stroud for R4 000 000 to top the Premier Sale.

Wednesday’s sale also saw a colt (Lot 201) from the immediate family of William Longsword and his G1 winning half-sister Real Princess prove popular. A son of the Klawervlei Stud bred champion Vercingetorix, the Maine Chance Farms consigned colt, named The Ghan, knocked down to World Wide Bloodstock for R1 100 000.
The Ghan’s dam Thru The Tulips is a full-sister to champion and G1 sire Victory Moon and ¾ sister to William Longsword himself.

This is also the family of Met winning champion Imperious Sue (dam of G1 Woolavington 2000 winner Imperious Star) and the high class international galloper Imbongi.

One of the very best sons of Klawervlei’s champion sire Captain Al, William Longsword won six of eight outings, with his wins including the 2016 G1 Grand Parade Cape Guineas (where he beat G1 winners Edict Of Nantes and Heavenly Blue) and 2017 CTS Mile (where he beat subsequent international high class performers Singapore Sling and Janoobi).

William Longsword, whose mates in 2018 included Sweet Virginia –the dam of G1 Sun Met favourite Do It Again, will be represented by his eagerly awaited first yearlings in 2020.
