Master Of My Fate filly lands Sweet Chestnut Stakes

7th April 2024

Varsfontein Stud’s inform stallion Master Of My Fate came up with his 24th stakes winner when his daughter Princess Izzy won the Listed Sweet Chestnut Stakes (1400m) at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth on Saturday.
The Sweet Chestnut Stakes was a good race for Master Of My Fate, also the sire of third-place finisher My Flower Fate. The latter caught the eye when flying up late after losing ground at the start.
Trained by Brett Crawford, progressive three-year-old Princess Izzy powered home, under Luyolo Mxothwa, to land Saturday’s Listed feature by a length and a half.
Now a three-time winner from just nine outings, Princess Izzy came into Saturday’s race having finished third in the Listed Schweppes Cape Fillies Classic last time out.
Bred by Varsfontein Stud, Princess Izzy is out of the What A Winter mare Destiny Dancer.
The filly was a R650 000 buy from the 2022 August Two Year Old Sale.
Master Of My Fate went close to having a feature race double on Saturday with his daughter My Soul Mate finishing a creditable second in the G2 Wilgerbosdrift Bridget Oppenheimer SA Oaks at Turffontein.
The son of Jet Master is no stranger to siring high-class fillies, with his daughters including G1 winners Sentbydestiny and Zarina, G2 Wilgerbosdrift Gauteng Fillies Guineas queen Lady Of Power and recent Listed East Cape Fillies Nursery winner Splicethemainbrace among others.
