Master Of My Fate filly maintains her unbeaten record

6th July 2024

Varsfontein Stud’s homebred sire Master Of My Fate looks to have yet another smart filly to his name in the form of promising two-year-old Lock And Key.
The latter made it two wins from two starts when winning a good race at Hollywoodbets Greyville on Saturday afternoon.
A more than eight and a half length winner on debut, the Glen Kotzen-trained Lock And Key caught the eye when winning in open company on Hollywoodbets Durban July day.
Under Richard Fourie, Lock And Key hit the front someway from home in Saturday’s Tabgold FM 80 Handicap (1400m) and kicked away to win in style by over a length and three quarters.
A tilt at the G1 Thekwini Stakes could be next on the cards for the exciting Lock And Key.
Bred by Varsfontein Stud, Lock And Key is out of the Judpot mare Double Whammy.
The filly was a R275 000 buy from the 2023 National Yearling Sale.
Master Of My Fate is also the sire of the classy Atticus Finch (winner of the G3 Betway Victory Moon Stakes), who ran second in Saturday’s G3 SplashOut 2200.
The son of Jet Master has had a fine season in 2023-2024, with Master Of My Fate’s four stakes winners this season including Listed East Cape Oaks/Listed TAB East Cape Derby queen Joy And Peace. The latter made it four wins in a row when she won the Walmer Handicap at Fairview on Friday.
