Varsfontein Stud’s  homebred stallion Master Of My Fate has enjoyed a wonderful weeks.
The son of Jet Master’s great form continued at Turffontein on Saturday when his G1 Betway Summer Cup winning son Atticus Finch won the G2 Allied Steelrode -Onamission Charity Mile (1600m).
Under a confident ride from Calvin Habib, the Alec Laird trained six-year-old outclassed his rivals, when storming home to win as he liked by three lengths.

Atticus Finch now looks set to defend his crown when he lines up in this month’s G1 Betway Summer Cup.

Bred by Varsfontein Stud, Atticus Finch has won seven of 26 starts for earnings of R5 009 000.

The gelding, who is out of the Caesour mare Alexia, was a R150 000 buy from the 2021 National Yearling Sale.

Atticus Finch, runner up in this season’s G2 Betway Joburg Spring Challenge, races for Lance Clark, Gary Basel, Grant Cornwall and PJ Gregory.

His inform sire Master Of My Fate had also enjoyed success at Hollywoodbets Greyville on Friday when his son Cleartherunway won the first race on the card.
Master Of My Fate is also the sire of this season’s star three-year-old fillies Golden Palm and Anotherdanceforme, the winners of the recent Listed Racehorse Owners Association Stakes and Racehorse Owners Association Plate respectively.
