Maine Chance Farms’ red hot sire Vercingetorix is having another fantastic season in 2021-2022, and the rising star sire enjoyed yet more feature race success when his son Alesian Chief captured Tuesday’s G3 World Sports Betting Merchants (1160m) run at Turffontein.

Trained by Corrie Lensley, the three-year-old was given a fine ride by Jarryd Penny, with Penny bringing Alesian Chief with a strong late burst to claim Tuesday’s sprint (delayed from Saturday) by three parts of a length.

The Vercingetorix colt was making it back to back feature race wins, with Alesian Chief having won the Listed Golden Loom Handicap last time out.
Now a winner of four of eight starts, Alesian Chief was bred by Dr Marianne Thomson.

Out of the Var mare All In The Mind, the colt is one of more than 30 stakes horses for his sire Vercingetorix.
The latter is also responsible for this season’s G2 Concorde Cup hero Pomp And Power, #ThisIsRacing G3 Matchem Stakes hero Seeking The Stars, CTS De Grendel Ready To Run Stakes hero Fifty Fiver, and G2 Allied Steelrode-Onamissionmile runner up Astrix.

Vercingetorix will be represented by Seeking The Stars in Saturday’s G2 Green Point Stakes, Chansonette and Queen Of Shadows in Saturday’s G1 World Sports Betting Cape Fillies Guineas, and by Vernichey in the G2 WSB Live Casino Southern Cross Stakes this Saturday.
