Varsfontein Stud’s champion sire Gimmethegreenlight is having a fantastic season, with the stallion’s offspring shining in both the sales ring and on the racetrack.
The son of More Than Ready struck twice at Hollywoodbets Greyville on Monday, with Gimmethegreenlight daughter Boogie Shoes winning Monday’s fourth race and son Gimme A Rainbow victorious in Greyville’s seventh race.
Trained by Gary Rich, the well bred Boogie Shoes came with a sustained late rattle to win Monday’s www.trackandball,co.za FM 72 Handicap (F&M) (1900m) by nearly a length and three-quarters.
It was back to back wins for Boogie Shoes, who was produced by the Mogok mare Moggytwoshoes.
Now a four time winner, Boogie Shoes was bred by Varsfontein Stud.
Trainer Carl Hewitson sent out Gimmethegreenlight gelding Gimme A Rainbow to land the Gold Circle Racing Youtube Channel MR 67 Handicap (1200m) at Greyville. Under Malesela Katjedi, the gelding stormed home to score by just over a length and a half.
Bred by Patricia Devine, Gimme A Rainbow has now won five times.
South Africa’s Champion Sire of 2020-2021, Gimmethegreenlight is again heading the General Sires List for 2022-2023.
His flagbearers this season include graded stakes winners Ciao Bella, Gimme A Prince and Gimme A Shot, with Gimmethegreenlight set to be represented in Saturday’s G1 World Sports Betting Cape Town Met by his son Universal.
