Monday double for Oratorio

21st Jun 2022

Avontuur Thoroughbred Farm’s triple G1 winning sire Oratorio continues to churn out winners all over South Africa, and the evergreen son of Danehill was at it again on Monday when Oratorio came up with two more winners at Hollywoodbets Greyville.

Oratorio’s talented four-year-old daughter Love Bomb, winner of the 2020 G2 Zulu Kingdom Explorer Golden Slipper, exploded away to land the fourth race at Greyville, the Kuda-Best Rates for Premium Cover FM 102 Handicap (1700m) in eye catching fashion.
Under Sean Veale, the Frank Robinson trained Love Bomb raced at the back of the field early on before coming with a strong late run which propelled Love Bomb to win going away by just over a length and a quarter.

Out of the Captain Al mare Boloval, Love Bomb has now won four times and has earned over R370 000 in stakes.

Bred by Greg Whittaker and Gavin Wiggill, Love Bomb is one of more than 60 stakes winners for Oratorio thus far.

Oratorio’s second success on Monday came when his son Caesura won the sixth race, the Kuda Pays Claims MR 68 Handicap, for trainer Alyson Wright. In the process, the Avontuur bred six-year-old took his tally of wins to seven.

Twice Leading Sire in Italy, Oratorio has had another good season in 2021-2022 with his flagbearers including G3 WSB Club Prive Acacia Stakes winner Pin Up, Listed Michael Roberts Stakes winner Gentleman’s Wager, and impressive recent Listed Hollywoodbets Super League Devon Air Stakes queen Canadian Summer.

A G1 winner at both two and three, Oratorio has four lots on offer at the 2022 KZN Yearling Sale.
