More first crop success for Ato

17th Jul 2018

Millstream Farm’s resident stallion Ato enjoyed yet more success with his first crop of runners over the weekend.
This time it was Ato’s Newbury Racing owned two-year-old son Tanganyika, who romped home to score his first victory over 1600m at Borrowdale on Republic Cup Day this past Saturday.

Trained by Bridget Stidolph, Tanganyika, who had finished second over 1100m at his previous outing, scored by a facile five lengths, and has now won or placed in all seven of his career outings.

Saturday’s winner was produced the winning Lateral mare Hollywood Sunset.

His G1 winning sire Ato has made a smart start with his first 2yos this season, and Tanganyika is Ato’s fifth individual first crop winner at the time of writing.

Ato has been represented by just 18 runners thus far, but they include 11 horses who have either won or finished in the money –a most encouraging start indeed!

Singapore’s Champion 4YO of 2012, Ato won or placed in 18 of his 25 outings, and banked more than SIN$1.6 million in prize money.

The son of multiple champion sire Royal Academy scored the biggest win of his career when downing a top class international field to win the G1 Krisflyer International Sprint, over six furlongs, back in 2012.
