Wilgerbosdrift’s well performed young War Front horse Fire Away gained a handsome boost to his pedigree page when his half-sister Vigilantes Way captured the Tropical Park Oaks on Boxing Day.

A three-year-daughter of Medaglia D’Oro, Vigilantes Way broke on top and vied for the lead with 108-1 Blue Mistress keeping her honest through fractions of :23.91 and :47.66. She took the lead for good leaving the final turn and never looked back to win with authority by 2 1/4 lengths.
The filly has now won four of eight starts having been runner up in the Hilltop Stakes and third in the Winter Memories Stakes previously.
Vigilantes Way is the third black type winner produced by the regally bred winning Unbridled mare Salute, herself a daughter of unbeaten Breeders’ Cup champion Personal Ensign. Salute, who was runner up in the G2 Demoiselle Stakes at two, is also dam of G1 Belmont Derby winner, and G1 sire, Mr Speaker, and the high-class Fire Away.
The latter won seven races including the G3 Dixie Stakes during a career which saw Fire Away earn over $600 000 in prize money.
