South Africa’s reigning champion sire Vercingetorix had yet another big pay when his daughters Callmegetrix and Tomyris ran 1-2 in Sunday’s Listed Off To Stud Stakes at Hollywoodbets Greyville.
In landing Sunday’s 600m contest, Callmegetrix became the 62nd stakes winner for Vercingetorix.
Under a positive ride from Sean Veale, the Candice Bass-Robinson trained mare made much of the running in Sunday’s contest to score by just over a length and three quarters.
The Rathmor Stud bred five-year-old has won five of 21 starts, with Callmegetrix having earned R844 937 in stakes.
The mare had finished runner up in all of the G2 HKJC World Pool Tibouchina Stakes, Listed Ladies Mile and Listed Sweet Chestnut Stakes last season.
Callmegetrix, who is out of the Kabool mare Clarion Call, is owned by Mario Ferreira.
Her outstanding sire Vercingetorix was crowned South Africa’s Champion Sire of 2024-2025, when he also headed the country’s Leading Sires of 2YOs and 3YOs premiership.
The champion son of Silvano has four lots on offer at the upcoming August Two Year Old Sale.
