Avontuur Thoroughbred Estate’s triple G1 winning sire Oratorio has enjoyed another good season in 2018-2019, and the son of Danehill was at it again on Friday when his daughter Carlita won the Listed Milkwood Stakes over 1000m at Fairview.

The Piemonte Stud bred Carlita, who is from Oratorio’s second South African crop, made it win number six on Friday, when running on nicely to land the Milkwood Stakes by half a length for trainer Alan Greeff and jockey Bernard Fayd’Herbe- despite having to lug 60kgs on her back.
The classy 3yo filly, who had won the Listed East Cape Fillies Nursery last season, took her earnings to overt R450 000 with her latest win, and Carlita has now won her last two races in a row.

Oratorio, whose smart son Chantyman picked up his fifth victory when victorious over 1000m at Greyville on Saturday,  is also the sire of Capoeira, who ran a smashing third, behind star 3yos Hawwaam and Twist Of Fate, in Saturday’s G1 Daily News 2000.

A regally bred son of Danehill, Oratorio has had notable success in 2018-2019 with his star performers headed by such graded stakes winners as Mardi Gras (Senor Santa Stakes), Divine Odyssey (G2 Colorado King Stakes) and Van Halen (G3 Man O’War Sprint).

The latter is one of eight G1 winners sired by Oratorio thus far, with Van Halen having banked over R820 000 in prize money thus far.

A dual champion sire in Italy (whose progeny have earned in excess of $63 000 000), Oratorio has two well bred yearlings on offer at July’s KZN Yearling Sale.
