Highlands Stud part of Ridgemont’s G1 winning sire Pathfork has a number of really smart looking two-year-olds to his name this season.
The son of US champion sire Distorted Humor’s 2yo winners this season include smart debut winner Mr Flood, Listed East Cape Nursery winner Madame Speaker, and G1 Allan Robertson Championship entrant Mighty High.
The former Irish Champion is also responsible for G1 Tsogo Sun Gold Medallion entrant Gentleman’s Way
Pathfork had yet another eye catching juvenile winner when the Glen Kotzen trained Purest Bliss, fresh off a barrier trial victory, romped home on her official racecourse debut on Wednesday.
Bred by Highlands Stud, and a R70 000 buy from the 2017 KZN Yearling Sale, Purest Bliss was backed down to start a 2-1 shot for the juvenile plate for fillies over 1200 metres.
The filly, who has been entered in the G1 Allan Robertson Championship over the same course and distance as her win on Wednesday, put 1.5 lengths between herself and runner up Satara
Winner of both the G1 National and G2 Futurity Stakes at two, Pathfork is well represented at the 2018 KZN Yearling Sale.
The sire, whose relatives include El Gran Senor, Northern Guest and Redoute’s Choice, has seven lots on offer at the Sibaya held auction, with Pathfork sired yearlings on that sale including a colt out of a half-sister to G2 winner Triptique (Lot 99), a filly out of a five time winning daughter of top class broodmare sire Rich Man’s Gold (Lot 113), and a filly out of a G3 placed daughter of National Assembly (Lot 280).
