Pathfork filly tops National Two Year Old Sale

20th Aug 2018

A daughter of bang in-form sire Pathfork (who is standing at the Sandown Stud in 2018) topped the 2018 National Two Year Old Sale, which took place at the TBA complex last Thursday and Friday.

Consigned by Highlands Stud part of Ridgemont, the unnamed filly (Lot 37) was knocked down to trainer Brett Crawford for R1 200 000.

Out of the four time winning National Assembly mare Scented Samantha, the Pathfork sales topper is bred on the same cross as the sire’s triple stakes winning daughter Madame Speaker –a leading contender for the Eastern Cape awards later this year.

Pathfork ended the National Two Year Old Sale as fourth top sire by aggregate, with his eight lots to sell grossing R1 540 000.

Irish Champion 2YO Colt of 2010, and former G1 boylesports.com Vincent O’Brien National Stakes winner, Pathfork enjoyed a magnificent season last year, with his star representatives including the above mentioned Madame Speaker, unbeaten G1 Allan Robertson Fillies Championship victress Mighty High, debut winner Mr Flood, and the smart looking Desolate Road –runner up in the G3 Umkhomazi Stakes.

Pathfork, responsible for stakes winners in each of his first three crops with past black type winners included such graded stars as My Friend Lee and Red Chesnut Road, ended last season as South Africa’s fifth Leading Sire of 2yos with his tally of two-year-olds including ten individual winners, and his 2yos banked more than R1.7 million alone in 2017-2018.
