The Cape based Irish champion Pathfork had a very smart looking stakes winner on Sunday when his promising three-year-old son Fools Gold claimed the Listed Model Man Mile (formerly KZN Guineas Trial) at Hollywoodbets Greyville.
From the yard of Robbie and Shannon Hill, the Limestone Thoroughbred Trust bred Fools Gold showed his class when romping home to a facile four length win in Sunday’s 1600m contest under jockey Anton Marcus.
Marcus gave his mount a superb, front-running ride, with Fools Gold making much of the running to run out the easiest of winners.
The gelded sophomore, who is out of the Goldmark mare Jodi’s Gold, has now won two of only five starts and Fools Gold looks another fine advertisement for his sire Pathfork.
The latter, winner of both the G1 boylesports.com Vincent O’Brien National Stakes and G2 Galileo EBF Futurity Stakes in an unbeaten two-year-old campaign, is a proven and prolific source of winners, with Pathfork’s other notable performers including G1 Allan Robertson Championship winner Mighty High, KZN champion Marchingontogether, graded stakes winners My Friend Lee and Red Chesnut Road, and Listed Tattersalls Summer Juvenile Stakes winner Miss Honey.
A Distorted Humor half-brother to this year’s G1 Preakness Stakes winner War Of Will, Pathfork has two colts on offer at this month’s CTS Ready To Run Sale.
