Drakenstein Stud’s in-form sire Philanthropist was responsible for a useful looking winner at Durbanville on Wednesday.
His daughter Weston, who is trained by Justin Snaith, made it back to back wins when scoring a neck victory over 1200m –Weston’s last two wins having both come over 1200m.
Wednesday’s win was a smart effort by the Drakenstein Stud bred Weston, who was conceding 6kgs to the runner up and she could well build on this effort.
Only twice out of the money, Weston is the second recent Durbanville winner for her sire, whose daughter Stream Of Kindness scored for trainer Greg Ennion last Saturday.
Philanthropist, whose G1 daughter She’s A Giver holds an entry for the upcoming G2 Joburg Spring F&M Challenge at Turffontein, has some smart 3yos to his name this season including Golden Slipper third Tsessebe and impressive recent debut winner Raven Girl.
From the same male line as champion local sire Captain Al, Philanthropist’s first South African crop yielded no fewer than seven stakes horses, headed by exported Dingaans winner Singapore Sling.
