Drakenstein Stud’s successful sire Philanthropist has been enjoying another good run of success of late, and the strapping son of Kris S was at it again at the Vaal on Tuesday.
This time it was Philanthropist’s two-year-old daughter Vivir who made a winning debut over 1200m.
The Ditro Bloodstock bred filly, one of a pair of winners for apprentice Luke Ferraris on the day, is the fourth juvenile winner for Philanthropist this season.
The chestnut, whose relatives include National Assembly, Sovereign Dancer and What A Pleasure, is also responsible for recent Listed The Sledgehammer second Pack Leader and fourth place finishers The Slade, as well as another eye catching 2yo in the form of Clifton Crusher.
Philanthropist, whose other notably progeny include champions Phil’s Dream and Pender Harbour, could be in for a big weekend this week.
His Hong Kong Classic Cup winner Singapore Sling is a runner in Sunday’s HK$ 18 million Champions Mile, set to be run at Sha Tin this weekend.
