Querari two-year-old impresses

24th November 2024

Maine Chance Farms’ top-class stallion Querari came up with the first two-year-old winner in South Africa for the 2024-2025 season at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth on Saturday.
His son Black Cheetah made an impressive debut when running out a convincing winner of the Futurity Plate over 800 metres.
Trained by Justin Snaith, Black Cheetah unleashed a fine turn of foot close home which saw the Richard Fourie-ridden colt storm home to win convincingly by three and three-quarter lengths.
Bred by his part-owner Drakenstein Stud, Black Cheetah is out of the Var mare Mara.
His sire is no stranger to siring high-class two-year-olds, with Querari the Leading Sire of 2YOs in South Africa in 2018-2019.
Black Cheetah was one of two winners for Querari at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth on Saturday, with Querari gelding Congressman winning the tenth and final race on the card.
Trained by Andre Nel, four-year-old Congressman got off the mark in convincing style when he won Saturday’s Hollywoodbets Bright Future Open Maiden over 2000 metres.
Under a good, front-running ride from Corne Orffer, Congressman stayed on gamely to win by a length and a half.
Bred and owned by Sabine Plattner, Congressman is out of the Captain Al mare Twinkle Toes and is bred on the same cross as graded stakes winners Head Honcho, Kampala Campari and Questioning.
The latter, victorious in this season’s G3 Kuda Matchem Stakes and last season’s G3 Cape Classic, finished a close-up third in Saturday’s World Sports Betting Bantry Bay Stakes.
The inform Querari is also the sire of Listed Schweppes Cape Fillies Classic/Listed East Cape Paddock Stakes winner Rainbow Lorikeet who caught the eye when finishing second in the Summer Bowl on Saturday.
