Rafeef dam in foal to Snitzel

18th Oct 2018

Highlands Stud’s regally bred G1 winning sire Rafeef, whose first foals have arrived to rave reviews this season, is a son of two champions.

The Computaform Sprint winner is one of a staggering 33 G1 winners sired by triple Australian champion sire Redoute’s Choice.

Redoute’s Choice

The latter has been in scintillating form this year, with his offspring including brilliant, four and a half length G1 Ladbrokes Caulfield Guineas winner The Autumn Sun, who has now won five of just six outings and earned over $2.3 million in stakes money.

To date, the progeny of Redoute’s Choice (one of Danehill’s very best sons) have earned more than $146 000 000 in prize money.

Redoute’s Choice is also the sire of dual Australian Champion Sire Snitzel, who is once again leading the Australian General Sires List, and whose son Redzel recently captured the $13 000 000 The Everest for a second year running.

Rafeef, a full-brother to the exported G1 SA Nursery winner and Equus Champion Mustaaqeem, is one of two G1 winners produced by outstanding racemare National Colour.

Rafeef

That grey speedball, South Africa’s Joint Horse Of The Year and Champion 3YO Female Sprinter in 2006, won eight races in South Africa and Dubai, with National Colour’s notable performances including a four and a quarter length win in the 2006 G1 Computaform Sprint, a defeat of top globetrotting sprinter Tiza in the 2006 G1 Mercury Sprint and a runner up finish in the 2008 G1 NUnthorpe Stakes –one of Britain’s top sprint features.

National Colour is currently in foal to the above mentioned Snitzel, whose stud fee this year was $220 000 –or more than R2 200 000!

The daughter of National Assembly is due to visit another top class sire son of Redoute’s Choice in the form of Not A Single Doubt later this year.
